Equality & Diversity

St Mary’s is committed to eliminating discrimination and promoting equality and diversity in its own policies, practices and procedures and in those areas in which it has influence.

Our approach to equality and diversity applies to our professional dealings with staff, solicitors, other barristers, clients and third parties.

We have designed our working environment to encourage initiative, promote teamwork and to build on the individual strengths and aptitudes of everyone in our team.

We are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all staff and job applicants. We aim to create a working environment in which all individuals are able to make best use of their skills, free from discrimination or harassment, and in which all decisions are based on merit.

We do not discriminate on the basis of their gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy, maternity, marital or civil status, gender reassignment, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability or age (the protected characteristics).

Every three years we ask all our people to take part in a survey so we can monitor how we measure up against our policy. The data is anonymised and we publish it as soon as it becomes available.
